Integrative Psychiatry

Talk therapy is an essential part of almost every healing journey, but it is not the whole equation. Mental health challenges are not just psychological, but stem from the body as well. For instance, certain individuals may have a biological condition that prevents them from properly synthesizing serotonin and dopamine—critical biochemicals responsible for feeling good. No amount of talk therapy alone can address such conditions. By taking a holistic approach, we combine talk therapy with integrative psychiatry, focusing on factors like gut health, genetics, and environmental stressors, to provide truly comprehensive care. This allows us to address both the psychological and biological aspects of your mental health for more effective, lasting results.

Collaborative Care

At our practice, we believe in the power of collaborative care. While you'll have a primary therapist dedicated to your journey, we understand that healing and growth can sometimes benefit from diverse perspectives and specialized expertise. That's why we offer the option to leverage the strengths of our entire team when needed. If you and your therapist feel you've reached a plateau in your progress, or if you simply want to explore additional tools and approaches, we can seamlessly bring in other therapists with complementary skills. This collaborative model is built into our philosophy, ensuring you have access to a wide range of therapeutic techniques and insights.

Outcome Focused

From the very first intake session, we establish a baseline of how you’re feeling and identify key areas for improvement. We periodically measure these metrics to assess progress, ensuring our sessions are driving real, measurable change. By staying focused on outcomes, we tailor our approach to help you feel better and reach your goals, rather than just going through the motions of weekly therapy.

Advanced Healing Methods

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

ART is a rapid and effective psychotherapy designed to resolve symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. In a typical session, clients focus on traumatic memories while following the therapist's hand movements, engaging in a unique "voluntary memory replacement" technique to transform distressing images into positive ones. ART offers quick symptom relief, often within a few sessions, and is less emotionally taxing as it doesn't require detailed verbal recounting of traumas. This versatile approach empowers clients to actively reshape their perceptions of traumatic memories, making it suitable for various mental health concerns beyond PTSD, including anxiety, depression, and phobias.

IFS therapy is an integrative approach that views the mind as composed of subpersonalities or "parts," each with distinct perspectives and emotions, interacting like a family system. Central to IFS is the belief in a core "Self" that embodies calmness and compassion when not overwhelmed by these parts. This therapy fosters self-awareness and self-compassion, helping individuals heal emotional wounds, reduce inner conflict, and achieve greater harmony. It is effective for various issues, including trauma, anxiety, and relationship problems, empowering clients to engage with their inner parts in healthy ways and promoting personal growth through a non-judgmental, curious exploration of the self.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a psychotherapy based on the connection between visual fields, brain activity, and emotional experiences. The therapy identifies specific eye positions, or "brainspots," that correlate with stored trauma, allowing individuals to process and release deep-seated psychological issues. In sessions, clients focus on these brainspots while tuning into their internal experiences, enabling the processing of traumatic memories that may not be accessible through traditional talk therapy. Primarily used for trauma-related issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, Brainspotting offers benefits such as rapid issue resolution, minimal verbalization of trauma, and a strong body-mind connection.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

EMDR therapy is designed to alleviate distress from traumatic memories through the adaptive information processing model. During sessions, clients focus on a traumatic memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, typically via side-to-side eye movements, which helps reprocess the memory and reduce its emotional impact. EMDR follows an eight-phase structured approach that includes history-taking, desensitization, and re-evaluation. Initially used for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), its applications have expanded to anxiety, depression, phobias, and chronic pain. Benefits include efficient treatment, reduced emotional distress, improved cognitive insights, and minimal need for verbal expression, making it particularly suitable for those who struggle to discuss their trauma.

DBT is a cognitive-behavioral treatment initially designed for borderline personality disorder but now applied to various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. The therapy's core principle of "dialectical" emphasizes balancing acceptance with change. DBT is structured around four main modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, often taught in group settings alongside individual therapy. Key benefits include improved emotional regulation, enhanced interpersonal skills, increased distress tolerance, and reduced self-destructive behaviors. DBT is evidence-based and promotes long-term skill development, making it effective for complex mental health challenges. Its comprehensive approach, combining individual therapy, group training, and ongoing support, helps clients build a life worth living while validating their experiences.
